Bayern Munich fans could be banned from the club’s next away Champions League fixture

In this round of the Champions League, Bayern Munich suffered a 0-1 defeat against Lazio away from home. According to German media outlet Bild, Bayern's fans setting off fireworks during the match may activate a previous suspended punishment for the club, potentially barring fans from attending their next Champions League away fixture.
Before the match between Bayern and Lazio began, some of Bayern's extremist fans ignited fireworks in the stands. The entire away section was engulfed in smoke for a period of 3 minutes, leading to potential sanctions for Bayern.



In October of last year, during the group stage match against Copenhagen, Bayern's fans had also set off fireworks in the stands. At that time, Bayern received a €40,000 fine and an additional ban on fans attending one away match. However, this punishment has been under suspension and was set to be enforced by October 16, 2025. Bayern had urgently appealed to their fans through the club's official website, urging them not to use fireworks inside the stadium and to refrain from any inappropriate behavior, as all active Bayern fans would suffer the consequences.

Due to Bayern fans setting off fireworks once again during the match against Lazio, the previously suspended punishment may now be immediately enforced. This implies that Bayern's next Champions League away fixture could see fans being prohibited from attending.
