Eriksen: "This is a dream come true for me"

Eriksen:

Suffering from terminal illness, the veteran coach Eriksen finally realized his dream by sitting on the coaching bench of Liverpool. After the Liverpool Legends defeated the Ajax Legends 4-2, the 76-year-old coach tearfully expressed that he cried after fulfilling his dream.

Eriksen had announced earlier this year that he was in the late stages of pancreatic cancer, with at most a year left to live. Liverpool responded to the calls of supporters by arranging for the lifelong Liverpool fan to coach the Liverpool Legends team.

After the match, Eriksen emotionally stated, "This will be a magnificent memory in my life, absolutely beautiful, seeing all these excellent players, they're not 20 years old, but they can play football, and we came back from 2-0 down to win. It's great, winning the match is just fantastic, with 60,000 people here, the atmosphere is just fantastic. We've raised a lot of money to help people in need, which is very important. I cried, sitting on the Liverpool coaching bench has always been my dream, and now it has come true, it's a beautiful day, for everything, the fans, the players, and the game, it's a beautiful day."

He continued, "Thanks to Liverpool for giving me the opportunity to participate in such an important match, although it doesn't count for points, the significance of the match is incredible. Thanks to the players from all over the world who participated, it's really wonderful. Ending my coaching career with Liverpool is a good thing, there's nothing better than this. It's very special, the players, the football, the fans, it's incredible. 60,000 people coming here, it doesn't get any better than this."
