Endrick: "Scoring My First National Team Goal Was Liberating"

In a friendly match held at Wembley Stadium in London, the Brazilian team secured a 1-0 away victory against the England team, with Endrick being the key figure of the night.

The 17-year-old Endrick admitted in a mixed-zone interview that the goal "liberated him from the game." In the final attack of the match, Endrick once again had a chance to score, but unfortunately, his shot was saved by Pickford.

"I'm still thinking and talking about that last one-on-one. Not scoring that goal hurt me a lot. I was thinking about another chance, just focused on scoring. It's a unique feeling, an interesting fact; it's like I'm playing a video game, career mode with the Brazil team. And I played my first national team game at Wembley Stadium and scored a goal. The goal just flashed in my mind, and now I can't think about the game anymore, it's had a little impact on me. I can't describe this feeling; my family, girlfriend, and agent are all here. I held back tears from falling."

As the youngest goalscorer in Wembley Stadium's history, Endrick's goal becomes even more special. On March 23, 1994, 30 years ago, "The Phenomenon" Ronaldo made his debut for the Brazil national team.

"It's a memorable day. I've talked to Ronaldo, and I've learned from him. Bobby Charlton is also my idol. On the same date Ronaldo made his debut, I scored a goal at Charlton's stadium. I'm very happy, and I hope I can help my teammates, help the national team, and hopefully, we can win."

This victory ended a four-game winless streak for the Brazilian national team, who had suffered three consecutive defeats in the South American qualifiers. It also ended England's unbeaten run of 10 games since their defeat to the French team in the 2022 World Cup.

Next Tuesday (26th), the Brazilian team will face the Spanish team in another World Cup friendly match.
