Gennaro Gattuso has reached an agreement to become the new coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawon
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport and Saudi media, Gennaro Gattuso has reached an agreement to become the new head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawon.
The former AC Milan, Napoli, and Valencia manager's recent tenure at Marseille did not meet expectations, with a record of only 9 wins, 8 draws, and 7 losses in 24 matches, leading to his dismissal in February. Since then, he has been without a club.
Gattuso has reportedly reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun to take over as head coach for the next season, with the club currently finalizing the details of the contract. Al-Taawoun is currently fourth in the Saudi Pro League standings, with two matches left in the season.
Saudi sources indicate that the Italian coach will receive a contract worth €8 million per year.
Since retiring as a player, Gattuso has had a rich coaching career, having managed teams in Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, and France. Additionally, Italian media recently reported that Gattuso was one of the candidates for the head coach position at Torino, with current manager Ivan Juric confirming he will leave at the end of the season.
