Arsenal slap £117 million price tag on William Saliba amid Real Madrid links

Real Madrid will have to break the bank and fork out £117 million to secure the services of Arsenal defensive mainstay William Saliba. According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are ready to sanction the departure of their star William Saliba but have slapped a massive £117 million price tag on the French international amidst interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are looking to reinforce their backline this summer and Saliba is a top target for them.

Saliba signed for the North London club in the summer of 2019. He had multiple loan spells away from the club in the initial years before Mikel Arteta incorporated him into his first team in the summer of 2022. The French centre-back hasn’t looked back since.

Real Madrid keen on Saliba
He has been an integral part of their first team over the last two seasons. While the 23-year-old still has three years left on his deal at Arsenal, Real Madrid are looking to prise him away this summer. The Spanish giants want to reinforce their defence ahead of next season and they feel Saliba could be an ideal fit for their team.

With Nacho Fernandez parting ways with the club, the team in white are looking to bring in a world-class centre-back who could form a dependable partnership with Eder Militao for the long run. They feel a combination of Saliba and Militao could do wonders for them.

Arsenal want £117 million for their defensive star
Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of the French centre-back and he would welcome his arrival. But, signing him won’t be that straightforward. Saliba has been a consistent performer at the back for Mikel Arteta.

He is one of the mainstays but they are willing to let him go but only if their financial demands are met. They are looking for a massive fee of £117 million to part ways with the French international who has been one of the best defenders in at the ongoing Euro 2024.

Arsenal are well in control of the situation with three years still left on Saliba’s contract. While Real Madrid are keen on his signature, they will have to meet the Gunners’ demand if they want to add the Saint-Étienne academy graduate to their team.

The North London club who are working on a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori are willing to part ways with Saliba to raise funds to sign more important targets. They want to bring in a world-class number nine along with a few other top players and raising £117 million will help them a long way.
