Big Contract! AS: Mbappé proposes €50 million after-tax annual salary + 100% image rights to Real Madrid

Several media outlets report that Mbappé has informed Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will leave as a free agent at the end of the season, with Real Madrid being the top contender. Spanish media AS discusses Mbappé's situation with Real Madrid.



The Spanish media indicates that Mbappé's salary at Real Madrid will not match what he earned at PSG in the 23/24 season (€72 million after-tax annual salary + bonuses). While Mbappé's camp has proposed a minimum after-tax annual salary of €50 million (contract until 2030), Real Madrid will attempt to lower this figure. Regardless of the final outcome, Real Madrid currently holds the initiative in Mbappé's transfer.

In fact, if Mbappé joins Real Madrid, his annual salary will be close to Bale's, but because Mbappé's contract will be one year longer than Bale's and considering the signing bonus spread over the six-year contract, Mbappé will become the highest-paid player at the club.

Mbappé's contract with PSG signed in 2022 includes a renewal bonus worth €180 million (to be paid over three years if he serves the club for three years), but the signing bonus offered by Real Madrid will not reach this level.

Mbappé's income at Real Madrid will include various bonuses for individual performances (Ballon d'Or, Golden Boot, etc.). Additionally, image rights are a sticking point in the negotiations, as Mbappé demands 100% control over his image rights, which Real Madrid is reluctant to fully concede.

If Mbappé agrees to a reduced salary and accepts a "base salary," one reason is that his team hopes the player will continue to enhance his image on a bigger stage like Real Madrid and secure new sponsorship deals. Mbappé's main sponsor currently is Nike, and the contract runs until 2029, with the value potentially increasing to €200 million.
