Italian Fans Attacked by Croatian Fans

Italy drew 1-1 with Croatia, concluding the Group B matches. In addition to the on-field contest, clashes broke out between fans off the field.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, some Italian fans were attacked by Croatian extremists in downtown Leipzig, resulting in four injuries, with two people being rushed to the hospital. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a stolen flag that was later returned, sparking the conflict between the fans.

Leipzig police have identified and detained 11 suspects (Croatians and Bosnians, aged between 21 and 44). All have since been released, but the police have filed charges against them.
