Son Heung-min's father has been referred to prosecutors for investigation on suspicion of child abuse

According to Yonhap News Agency, Son Heung-min's father, Son Woong, who is establishing the "Son Heung-min Football Academy," has been taken in for investigation by South Korean prosecutors due to allegations of child abuse. It is reported that Son Woong and several other coaches are accused of verbally abusing and physically punishing children at the academy.

The incident reportedly began in March last year when a young player was struck on the thigh by a coach and injured, prompting a complaint to relevant authorities. Additionally, the player stated that after losing a match, he and three others were punished by being forced to lie on the ground while being hit on the buttocks with a corner flagpole for failing to run from the goal line to the midfield within 20 seconds.

During a training camp in Okinawa in March this year, the same player was allegedly verbally abused by Son Woong for making a mistake. Local police transferred Son Woong and several other coaches to prosecutors in April this year for investigation.
