Dorival Junior: Richarlison de Andrade Still in Recovery Phase
Brazil's head coach, Dorival Junior, has stated that Tottenham Hotspur forward Roberto Richarlison is undergoing a "slow recovery process" in order to return to full fitness. Richarlison did not feature in Saturday's match where Brazil defeated England.
Earlier this month, he made a comeback in Tottenham Hotspur's game against Fulham, coming on as a substitute only in the final ten minutes of the match. Richarlison has been sidelined from the last two Premier League games due to knee issues and only recently returned to action. Despite being named in Brazil's squad for this month's friendlies against England and Spain, he did not make an appearance. Dorival Junior admitted that Brazil will "do everything possible" to monitor the 26-year-old's health.
He said, "Richarlison has made tremendous efforts to get back on the field, but the recovery process has its natural course. We are doing everything possible to assist him and prevent any worsening of the situation. He is gradually working towards getting back to a better state, but it's still a slow process. Firmino was ruled out of the game against England, and for the next match, we will reassess all these situations based on his recovery progress."
